Florence and The Machine è il nome d’arte di Florence Welch, cantante londinese giovanissima (non ha nemmeno 24 anni) eppure carismatica e dalla voce penetrante. Il nome indica anche gli artisti che creano musica ispirata all’indie rock e al soul  appositamente per lei, che scoprì la sua vocazione nella prima adolescenza, nel bel mezzo di problemi di salute. Il singolo Cosmic love è parte del fortunato album d’esordio Lungs, edito nel 2009. Cosmic love è un’intensa ballata dal testo criptico, eppure diretto e con molteplici livelli di significazione. Non a caso Florence è figlia di Evelyn Welch, insegnante di studi Rinascimentali e preside della facoltà di Arte alla Queen Mary, Università di Londra, e di Nick Welch, che lavora nell’ambito pubblicitario.
